Improvement is Necessary

I mean that I need to get more diligent with posting here, when I say improvement is necessary.

I am counting this post as a progress report, even though there is a bit of personal in it. I enrolled myself in an online university to take Business Administration. Why does this count as progress? It is simple really. Knowledge is power, and I am aquiring the knowledge needed to run this organization properly from the get go.

I’ve kind of gotten a rough draft for qualification requirements for families applying for green energy systems with our organization.

Low-income (still researching and determining what these guidelines will be)

Volunteer Work – each qualifying family will be required to commit to a certain number of volunteer hours (the exact number is still to be determined) in order to qualify for their green energy system.

Like I said, it is still very rough. The general idea is that if they have to help with the work involved in getting this system for them, they will appreciate and care for it better than if they had to do nothing. We are eventually wanting to take this still a step further and offer homes built from green building materials and equipped with green energy systems.

So there it is, a progress report and a bit of a peek into where we are headed. Thanks for tuning in.

Less Than Expected…

So, today I was supposed to sit down and research the basics of starting a non-profit. That got about as far as finding out that there is a Non-Profit Starter Kit – For Dummies out there. Not exactly what I had in mind. We did however, remove quite a bit of clutter in the house. Hey, maybe a clutter free home will make the rest of this go more smoothly.

Anyway, we are on day four of this blog. Two of my older girls were here for the weekend, so I didn’t find my way to the computer much at all. Of course, I really think weekends are meant to be family time.

This will have to do for an update today, my youngest is after anything he can get his hands on.

Welcome to our little home on the web. Sprouting Moons is an upcoming non-profit dedicated to the reduction of landfill waste and better availability of green energy to the common man. We chose the name Sprouting Moons with the thought of saplings sprouting from the ground, and children reaching for their dreams in mind.

At the moment, we are in the seed stages of development. The part where we gather information, apply for various grants, contact companies to form lasting contracts, and all the other mundane but necessary parts that will grow into a meaningful purpose.

It is through these pages that we would like to take you along with us on our journey. We hope you enjoy the trip as much as we plan to. Due to this being a cooperative effort with my husband, do not be surprised if this blog represents posts from both of us.

With that said…

Brand New Territory

I’ve been amazed since we undertook unschooling. The children are progressing in their learning by leaps and bounds. They astound me each and every day with just how much they really know. Both myself and the children are accustomed to having lots of time for one another, and while we are planning to make this a family project, I imagine there will be times here and there where it won’t go as smoothly as desired.

So, I thought it might be good for me to be able to look back and see where we have made progress, where we have fallen behind, and just what this incredible journey started as. I also thought that it might be of interest, for anyone else out there wanting to start their own non-profit, to get a bird’s eye view, so to speak, of how it affects the family.

There will be more posted in here as we go.
